Peter Oyebanji, MEng, Peng, is experienced in Reservoir Modeling, Gas Storage, Well logging and PTA. He is currently a Reservoir Engineer Specialist with Perpetual Energy Inc. and serves on the SPE Calgary Section Board of Directors.
Helen Chang is a Reservoir Engineer in the Reserves and Resources Branch at the Alberta Energy Regulator. She has diverse reserves and exploitation experience specializing in unconventional shales and heavy oil (both primary and thermal methods) in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin and Texas. She holds a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Alberta and is a Registered Professional Engineer in Alberta. Helen has been an active member of the SPE having served as SPE Calgary Section Chairman, represented Canada as Regional Director on the International SPE Board of Directors, served as Director on the SPE Canadian Region Board and most recently, she was the Chairman of the SPE Canadian Educational Trust. Helen is the Recipient of the SPE Regional Service Award (2005), SPE International Young Member Outstanding Service Awards (2002) and SPE International Distinguished Service Award (2014). She is a SPEI Distinguished Member (2014) and is a member of the SPE Century Club (Life Member) (2009). Helen is a PADI Scuba Instructor, Yoga Instructor and has a Black Belt in Shotokan Karate.
B. R. (Barry) Hanson has been a member of SPE since 1985. He was active in the Calgary Section (previously Canadian section) from 1991 to 2001, serving as the Chairman in 1999-2000. He has served on organizing committees of three different Gas Technology Symposia including as Co-Chairman of the Gas Technology Symposium in Calgary in 1996, several one-day heavy oil symposia and other conferences sponsored and organized by SPE. He has represented the region on several SPE International committees and is currently the Treasurer of the SPE Canadian Educational Foundation Board. Barry has worked in the Petroleum Industry for over 35 years, involved in Conventional Heavy Oil pilot design construction and operation, drilling and completions design and operations, reservoir engineering, production operations, pipeline and facility design and construction, joint venture operations management, natural gas and oil marketing and management of oil and gas producing companies. He is currently a Senior Petroleum Engineer at Sproule performing reserves evaluations for Canadian and International clients.
Gökhan Coskuner has over 30 years of industry experience and currently works as Manager of EOR and New Technology in the Heavy Oil and Gas Department with Husky Oil Operations Limited. Previously, he worked as Asset Manager and Reservoir Engineering and Development Lead in Oil sands, as a team leader. Prior to joining Husky Oil, he worked for Agip, Scientific Software Intercomp, and at Imperial Oil, Shell Canada and the Petroleum Recovery Institute. He holds a B.Sc degree from the Middle East Technical University in Turkey, and M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Alberta, all in petroleum engineering. He served as the Executive Editor of the Journal of Canadian Petroleum Technology between 2011 and 2014. He had been a member of the Journal of Canadian Petroleum Technology Editorial Review Board since 1990, was a director of the Petroleum Society and the general chairman for the 2004 Canadian International Petroleum Conference. He was the recipient of the Petroleum Society’s Outstanding Service Award in 2009 and Society of Petroleum Engineer’s Distinguished Member Award in 2013, Outstanding Service Award and A Peer Apart Award in 2014. He has been a director of SPE Canada since 2015 and currently serves as the chairman of the Board of Directors of SPE Canada.
Darcy W. Spady, is the Managing Director of a subsidiary of Broadview Energy, and serves as the 2018 SPE International President. He is the first Canadian elected as president of SPE. Spady has an extensive background in the natural gas, oil, and heavy oil segments of the industry. He is an active board member and technical advisor, currently serving as Chair of Green Imaging Technologies (MRI core analysis) and MNP Petroleum. Experience includes working a decade for Schlumberger across North America in its wireline and pressure pumping segments, as well as with the Columbia Natural Resources/Triana Energy Group in the Appalachians, Atlantic Canada, and internationally. He has also served as the CEO of Contact Exploration, and more recently as head of sales for Sanjel Corporation.
